Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Nurse Practitioner?

A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse with graduate-level medical training who is qualified to diagnose conditions, order and interpret lab tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans.

Do you work with a physician?

Yes. As a nurse practitioner, the practice operates under a collaborative agreement with a licensed physician in accordance with state regulations. This allows for consultation when needed and helps ensure safe, high-quality care for patients.

Will I see the physician during my visit?

No. All patient visits and care are provided directly by the nurse practitioner. The collaborating physician does not see patients in the practice but is available for consultation when appropriate.

Do you accept health insurance?

We do not accept insurance at this time and are not in network with insurance providers such as Medicaid or Medicare. Due to Medicare rules, we are unable to see Medicare clients for any "covered" Medicare services.  We will provide an invoice upon request but do not interact with insurance companies on your behalf. We are a cash-based wellness practice which most insurance companies consider non-covered expenses.

Will Better Days Health and Wellness be my primary care provider?

No, we will not replace your PCP or OB/GYN. Instead, our goal is to fill in the gap and be a resource to you and your current providers. We want to provide you with quality care, quality time and provide you with a comprehensive wellness plan to address your individual needs. We will be able to answer questions and provide treatment options and give you the time that you may not be able to get elsewhere. It is our goal to help you feel your best mentally and physically.

Are there any limitations to telemedicine?

Telemedicine offers convenience and accessibility but there are some challenges. These include limited ability for physical exams and reliance on technology (internet connection and devices). We recommend finding a quiet, private space with a strong internet connection for your appointments. Not all concerns or conditions are appropriate for a telemedicine appointment. There may be times where it is recommended for you to seek evaluation at an in-person facility or come into the office.

Can I be seen via telemedicine visit if I am out of state?

Telemedicine visits are currently available for patients who are physically located in South Carolina or North Carolina at the time of the appointment. State regulations require providers to be licensed in the state where the patient is located during the visit.

What weight loss programs do you offer?

At Better Days Health and Wellness we offer comprehensive, medically supervised weight loss programs. Our programs are not a "quick fix" and are designed to help you make necessary lifestyle changes to achieve lasting results. We focus on creating a personalized plan that will meet your unique needs and goals.

Are weight loss medications FDA-approved?

Some patients may be prescribed FDA-approved medications. In certain cases, a compounded medication prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy may be used based on individual medical needs. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Are weight loss medications the same as the ones advertised on TV?

Medication decisions are individualized and discussed during your consultation.

What is hormone therapy?

Hormone therapy is the process of  balancing or replacing hormones. These hormones change as we age, for men and women. An imbalance of hormones may lead to symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, mood swings, and low energy. Balancing hormones can improve overall well-being and health. Our approach is tailored to your specific needs.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

Please contact our office via phone 843-892-0007 to make adjustments to your appointment. We kindly request 24 hours notice when possible.
